Asylum Roleplay

Rules

Last updated 31 July 2026 · 5 min read

This is a template set of rules. These will not be the final rules.

These rules apply everywhere on the site: public rooms, private rooms, direct messages, character profiles, and roleplay ads. Staff enforce them at their discretion.

The short version: this is an adult roleplay site for consenting adults. Play what you like with people who want to play it with you, keep it in character, and take no for an answer.

1. Everyone here is 18 or over

You must be 18 or older to hold an account. No exceptions, and no "my birthday is next month".

No sexual content involving minors, in any form. This includes characters described as under 18, characters written as children regardless of a stated age, and any image depicting a minor sexually. This is the one rule with no appeal and no second chance: accounts are removed immediately and permanently.

Do not post sexual content involving real people who have not consented, and do not post intimate images of anyone without their permission.

2. Consent is the whole game

Before a scene goes somewhere intense, agree on it. Preferences and content warnings exist so you can do this without an awkward conversation every time, but they are a starting point, not a contract.

  • "Stop" means stop, in character or out of it. Break scene, no explanation owed.
  • Check preferences before starting a scene with someone.
  • If a scene drifts somewhere a partner has flagged as a limit, stop and ask.
  • Do not pressure anyone to play something they declined. Asking twice is pressure.

Blocking someone is always an acceptable answer, and you never owe an explanation for it.

3. Label your content

Set content warnings on characters and rooms that need them, and mark adult images as adult so the blur works for people who want it.

This matters most for the heavy stuff: non-consent themes, graphic violence, and similar. Plenty of people will play those scenes happily, and the ones who will not deserve to know before they are in one.

4. Keep character and player separate

The character is not the person. Someone playing a villain is not a villain.

  • Do not carry in-character conflict into out-of-character behaviour.
  • Do not use roleplay as cover for harassing someone.
  • Do not assume anything about a player's real identity, gender, or life from their character.

Do not share anyone's personal information, including real names, addresses, workplaces, other accounts, or anything else they have not chosen to share themselves. This applies to information you found elsewhere, not just information from this site.

5. Do not harass people

Repeated unwanted contact, following someone between rooms, pile-ons, slurs, and hate directed at anyone for who they are all count as harassment. So does creating a new account to get around a block or a suspension.

Disagreements happen. Being blunt is fine. Grinding someone down is not.

6. Nobody wants your advertising

No spam, no bulk messaging, no scams, no chain messages, no advertising unrelated sites or services. Roleplay ads belong in Looking for RP, one per character, kept current.

Do not use the site to sell anything, and do not solicit money from other members.

7. Real illegal activity stays off the site

Fiction is fiction. But do not use the site to arrange, coordinate, or carry out anything actually illegal, and do not post content that is illegal to possess or distribute.

Do not post malware, phishing links, or anything designed to compromise someone's account or device.

8. Play fair with the site itself

  • One account per person unless staff have agreed otherwise.
  • Do not attempt to break, overload, or find your way into parts of the site that are not yours.
  • Do not scrape or bulk-collect other members' content or profiles.
  • Custom profile HTML and CSS should not attempt to break out of its frame, mislead about where a link goes, or interfere with the rest of the site.

If you find a security problem, tell staff rather than using it. We would genuinely rather hear from you.

9. Images are linked, not hosted

The site does not store your images. It links to them from hosts on the allowed list, which means whoever runs that host can see who is viewing.

Only link images you have the right to use. Do not link images that break any rule above, and remember that a linked image can be seen by anyone who can see where you posted it.

10. Staff decisions

Staff can remove content, suspend accounts, and close rooms to keep the site working. We aim to explain ourselves and we get things wrong sometimes, which is why suspensions can be appealed.

Being rude to staff is not against the rules. Evading enforcement is.

Reporting

Every character, room message, image, and roleplay ad has a Report option. Use it, and say what the problem is. Reports go to staff, not to the person you reported.

If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. We are a roleplay site and cannot help with that.

What happens when a rule is broken

Depending on what happened, staff may remove content, issue a warning, suspend an account temporarily, or ban permanently. Serious harm to another member, and anything under rule 1, skips straight to the end.

Suspensions can be appealed from the suspension notice. Declined appeals have a cooling-off period before you can appeal again.
